In this conceptual, poetic narrative, a young gay man struggles with his sexual identity, wanting to be with his best friend but is trapped by the societal heteronormativity. He spirals into the world of drunken facades and midnight afterthoughts, questioning who he is and if he's willing to take the risk to be his truest self where others can see. This queer film focuses on conceptual visuals, audio, and music paired with spoken word poetry to bring together an artistic narrative that speaks to the self-acceptance and coming-out journey that many LGBTQIA+ people experience.
Midnight Rhythms is a film by and for the LGBTQIA+ community and depicts the personal struggles of a queer person on their journey towards coming out and living proudly. As filmmakers, we are working to foster an open, accepting, and affirming community of queer and BIPOC artists within the Oregon film community. Additionally, we want this story to connect with the local and greater LGBTQ+ community, speak to our common yet unique experiences, and open up a dialogue between ourselves as well as with our friends and families.
All funds raised will directly fund production costs of the short film and help us bring our artistic vision to life!
